About

sharing a little about me

Hi! I am Jennifer Grant [formerly Jennifer Plotkin], a nationally board certified counselor, offering an empathetic, non-judgmental, safe-space to share, grow, and heal. I'm committed to helping adolescents, emerging adults, adults, and elders with anxiety and life challenges through a collaborative process. My work focuses on individuals struggling with anxiety, panic episodes, social anxiety, life transitions, grief and PTSD. I am also passionate about working with individuals struggling with obsessive-compulsive tendencies and disordered eating. My philosophy on therapy involves an integrated approach that is chosen to fit the client and their needs. I often incorporate other therapeutic approaches such as art and mindfulness to enhance healing from anxiety, depression and trauma. My belief is that people are motivated to grow and change within a safe, supportive, therapeutic relationship. We work together on finding coping skills that feel like a right match to the client and that will be applicable to future challenging situations. Sessions will include a compassionate treatment approach where the focus is on meeting the client where they are and working to have a clear understanding of their goals and ambitions. We will explore past experiences that influence current unhealthy behaviors, while developing the balance of self-awareness and the gift of practicing self-compassion. Education is provided to the caretakers to help increase communication and support their loved one's continued social and emotional development.
